Halloween 2026 in Ventura County by Age: Toddlers to Grown-Ups

Halloween 2026 lands on a Saturday, and the right plan depends mostly on who you're bringing. A two-year-old and a sixteen-year-old want completely different nights. So I sorted this year's Ventura County Halloween events by age, with the details that matter for each group. Toddlers and preschoolers

Go early, go short, and skip anything with the word "haunted" in it. Daylight events are your friend.

Trail or Treat at the Camarillo Grove Park Nature Center is Saturday, October 17, from 10 AM to 1 PM. Kids trick-or-treat along a nature trail and answer nature questions for treats, and it's $10 per child with parents free. On Friday, October 30, Seaside Trick or Treat at Ventura Harbor Village runs 4 to 6 PM, with trick-or-treating at the harbor shops and a Monster Mash dance party. It's free, but the treats are limited, so earlier is better.

On Halloween itself, BooFest in Old Town Camarillo (noon to 3 PM, free) and the Oak Park Halloween Carnival (noon to 3 PM, $5 per child in advance, ages 2 to 12) both wrap up before nap time runs out. In Fillmore, the Trunk or Treat downtown on Wednesday, October 28, opens with a quieter sensory-friendly hour from 5 to 6 PM.

For pumpkins, a weekday afternoon at Conejo Family Farms in Camarillo is the easy win: $15, a hayride, a corn maze, and bounce houses, and kids 5 and under get in free.

Grade-schoolers

Kids from about 5 to 10 get the most out of Halloween season in the county, between the carnivals and the big farm days.

Underwood Family Farms in Moorpark is the full farm day, open daily from September 26 through Halloween. Weekdays are $16 at the gate, and weekends are sold online only, so plan ahead if Saturday is your day. On Halloween afternoon, Moorpark's Haunted High Street (4 to 7 PM) has a carnival built for ages 3 to 10 at $5 if you buy by October 30, and Simi Valley's Youth Halloween Carnival (1 to 4 PM, 12 and under) is $5 a person online, adults included.

If your kid is curious about spooky things but not ready for a haunted house, two options split the difference. Victorian Halloween at the Olivas Adobe in Ventura, on Sunday, October 11, is small guided tours with ghost stories and a parlor séance. And Reign of Terror in Thousand Oaks runs a fully lit Lights ON walk-through on Saturday, October 17, from noon to 3 PM, for $15 at the door.

Tweens and teens

Teenagers mostly want to be scared, and the county has two places to do it. Reign of Terror inside Janss Marketplace in Thousand Oaks is the big one: 12 connected haunts, 18 nights from September 25 to November 1, recommended for 13 and up. The last three Fridays and Saturdays of October are the most expensive nights, so a Sunday or one of the late-October Thursdays is easier on the wallet.

Devil's Doorway is a newer, smaller haunted maze at VFW Post 1679 in Ventura, with live scare actors, and proceeds go to veteran and community programs. It runs Friday and Saturday nights from October 17 through Halloween, and tickets are $20 for adults with veterans free. For something that isn't about screaming, the Railbikes to the Pumpkin Patch ride out of the Santa Paula Depot on October weekends, pedaling through the citrus groves to Prancers Farm.

Grown-ups

Two weekends carry most of the adult calendar. On Saturday, October 24, the Bloodsuckers Ball takes over the Majestic Ventura Theater (18+, and a vampire costume is required to get in). The next day, Crawl-O-Ween is a daytime charity bar crawl through downtown Ventura (21+), and the Haunted Valley costume-friendly race goes off at Rancho Simi Park at 7:30 AM if you'd rather earn your candy.

Halloween night itself has the Rockstar Halloween Ball at Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach, with Bowie and Steely Dan tribute bands trading sets; a 21+ Halloween and Día de los Muertos party at River Ridge Golf Club in Oxnard; and Club Louie's in Westlake Village. If a party isn't your thing, the candlelit Halloween classics concert at Cal Lutheran's Samuelson Chapel on Friday, October 30, is a calmer night out.

Every age at once

If the whole family is going together, from grandparents to the stroller, Día de los Muertos in Downtown Ventura is the one. It's free and fills seven blocks of Main Street over two days. Saturday, October 31, is a Halloween night market with a classic-car trunk-or-treat from 2 to 9 PM, and Sunday, November 1, is the full festival from 11 AM to 6 PM. Oxnard has its own celebrations earlier in the month, at Panteón Fest on October 17 (kids 12 and under free) and the Oxnard Performing Arts Center on October 25.

And if the family member is a dog, the HOWL-O-WEEN costume contest at Ventura Harbor Village on October 24 takes the first 75 dogs.

A few planning notes

Because Halloween is a Saturday, Saturday, October 24, and Halloween day are the two most crowded days of the season, so book anything ticketed for those dates early. Sunset on Halloween is about 6:05 PM, and clocks fall back at 2 AM on November 1, which buys everyone an extra hour after a late night.
