Halloween 2026 falls on a Saturday, so a lot of the county's Halloween events stack up on October 31 itself: Haunted High Street in Moorpark, BooFest in Old Town Camarillo, kids' carnivals in Simi Valley and Oak Park, and the free Día de los Muertos kickoff on Main Street in Ventura. Pumpkin patches open in late September, and daylight saving time ends early Sunday morning, so you get an extra hour after the late night.

Farms, hayrides & corn mazes
Most farms open in late September and run through Halloween. Weekends are busier and cost more, so a weekday afternoon is the cheaper, calmer way to go. Here's the short list; our pumpkin patch guide has hours, what's included, and which ones allow dogs.

Trunk-or-treats, carnivals, and daytime trick-or-treating, in date order. Most are free or a few dollars, and several run on weeknights, which helps if your Saturday is already booked.

Oxnard Recreation's Nightmare Before Christmas float rolls through a different part of town each night: Northwest on Oct 19, South Central Oct 20, Northeast Oct 21, Central Oct 26, Southwest Oct 27, Del Norte Oct 28, and Southeast Oct 29. The city's flyer lists every stop, and you can follow it live on @Oxnardrec or the float hotline, (805) 402-0403.
Stops at schools and parks in a different Oxnard neighborhood each night
The county Department of Child Support Services' 5th annual trunk-or-treat, with local businesses and community groups handing out treats, plus music, kids' activities, community resources, and emergency vehicles to explore.
The county hasn't posted this year's page yet; the date comes from the department's listing on local event calendars. Last year's ran the same hours in the same lot.

Mini pumpkin decorating, Halloween photo spots, slime making, cookie decorating, and a kids' costume contest, hosted by the library's Teen Advisory Group.
Hill Road Library, 1070 S Hill Rd, Ventura
Halloween-decorated boats parade through the harbor after dark, with family activities and free candy on shore from 3 PM. That morning, the free Pumpkin Paddle puts costumed kayakers and paddleboarders on the water from the East Bank Day Dock (check-in at 9, register on Eventbrite).
Channel Islands Harbor, Oxnard
The Downtown Oxnard Improvement Association's 12th annual Halloween afternoon in Plaza Park, with trick-or-treat booths and costume contests.

Ventura Harbor Village's dog costume contest on the main lawn takes the first 75 dogs, with prizes for Best in Show, Spookiest, Most Sea-Worthy, Most On-Trend, and Most Creative. Online sign-up opens Friday, October 16, a few day-of spots are held back, and spectators are welcome.

Trick-or-treating through Moorpark College's teaching zoo over two weekends, with Pumpkin Bingo, photo spots, and animal meet-and-greets.

Conejo Recreation & Park District's kid-friendly Halloween night on the fields behind the Thousand Oaks Community Center: a costume contest from 6 to 7, then a reptile show and a puppet show, a trunk-or-treat street until 8:30, and a short haunted trail with timed departures from 7.
Most slots from 7:10 to 7:55 PM were sold out or down to one spot as of September 24; 8:05 PM and later still had plenty. Be at the trail entrance 10 minutes before your slot, and kids under 12 need an adult with a ticket.

The Channel Islands YMCA's trunk-or-treat evening, with a costume contest, a best-decorated-trunk contest, a bounce house, and games.

A City of Oxnard Recreation Halloween block party at the South Oxnard Center and library.
The city's event page says 5:30 to 9:30 PM and its float-tour flyer says 5 to 8:30 PM. Go by 5:30 to be safe.

A weeknight park party from the Pleasant Valley Recreation & Park District, with trick-or-treating through the event, a 6 PM costume contest, games, pumpkin painting, food trucks, and vendors.
Community Center Park, 1605 E. Burnley St, Camarillo
Residents and local groups decorate their car trunks downtown and hand out treats. The first hour is a quieter, sensory-friendly session for kids who need it.
Downtown Fillmore
Trick-or-treating at participating shops, with photo spots, a DJ, and activities from local nonprofits. It used to be called Trick-or-Treat at The Collection.
The Collection at RiverPark, Oxnard
Trick-or-treating at participating downtown businesses, a costume contest, family activities, and the Scarecrow Stroll winners, with the Ventura Downtown Lions Club.
Throughout Downtown Ventura
Kids trick-or-treat at participating harbor shops and restaurants, with a Monster Mash dance party, a skeleton hunt, and a roaming magician. Face painting and a few other add-ons cost extra. It moved to a Friday evening this year, so ignore older listings that say Sunday afternoon. Candy is while supplies last, so earlier is better.
Ventura Harbor Village, 1583 Spinnaker Dr, Ventura
Kids trick-or-treat at Old Town businesses along Ventura Boulevard, there's a costume contest, and Chapel City Church hosts a free carnival. The Camarillo Merchant Association runs it, now in its 13th year.

Carnival games, face painting, crafts, prizes, and candy, with a food vendor on site. No strollers or pets inside.
Oak Park Community Center, 1000 N. Kanan Rd
Simi Valley's kids' carnival, now in its 65th year: game booths (with a separate set for kids under 5), inflatables, a hay ride, face painting, balloon twisting, and a candy guessing game.
Rancho Santa Susana Community Center, 5005-C Los Angeles Ave, Simi Valley
Trick-or-treating at the stores with a pumpkin in the window, plus a prize wheel and a photo booth near Brooks Brothers. It's an afternoon event this year, so ignore older listings that say 4 to 6.
Camarillo Premium Outlets, 740 E Ventura Blvd (Fashion Court, near Brooks Brothers)
The Conejo Valley Historical Society's Halloween afternoon at the museum: trick-or-treating, pinecone owls, mask and broom making, Pitch-A-Pumpkin, sack races, live music, a Hooting Owl Contest at 3, and a Victorian mourning dress exhibit.
Stagecoach Inn Museum, 51 S Ventu Park Rd, Newbury Park
High Street closes to cars for a trunk-or-treat, a costume contest at 5 PM, a library pumpkin patch, and a carnival with games, bounce houses, a giant slide, and a trackless train. The North Metrolink lot is closed, so park at the South Metrolink lot, the post office, the library, or the community center.

If you want a scare
Reign of Terror is the big one. Devil's Doorway is a smaller VFW-run maze in Ventura, the Camarillo Library builds its own haunted house for two nights, Ojai walks its ghost stories after dark for ages 14 and up, and Olivas Adobe is the pick for kids who like ghost stories more than jump scares.
A 35,000-square-foot indoor walk-through inside Janss Marketplace, with two new haunts for 2026, Backwoods and The Hotel. The last three Fridays and Saturdays of October cost the most. For a gentler version, Lights ON is a fully lit walk-through on Saturday, October 17, from noon to 3 ($15 at the door). Lights OUT, in total darkness, closes the season on November 1.
Janss Marketplace, 285 N. Moorpark Rd, Thousand Oaks
A haunted maze with live scare actors, run by VFW Post 1679 with Roy's Haunts and Malkin Manor, and proceeds go to veteran and community programs. Opening night, Saturday, October 17, is a $50 Grand Opening Bash with food, live music, and a $100 costume contest (Eventbrite also sells a 2-for-1 bash ticket).
The website says Sundays noon to 3 PM, while Eventbrite sells 7 to 11 PM entry on Sundays, October 18 and 25, plus noon to 4 PM on Sunday, November 1. Check Eventbrite before a Sunday visit.
VFW Post 1679, 3801 Market St, Ventura
Ojai Recreation's after-dark walking tour of downtown ghost stories with ghost author Richard Senate. Bring a flashlight and wear closed-toe shoes, and register ahead through Ojai Rec.
Ojai Rec's cemetery tour and Creek Road ghost van tour were already full as of September 24.
Meets by the Libbey Park fountain, Ojai
Guided tours of about 40 minutes through the Victorian mourning and Halloween customs of the 1800s rancho, with ghost stories, a parlor séance, fortune-tellers, and an 1860s funeral director. A good fit for older kids who aren't ready for a haunted house.
Tours take up to 12 people and must be reserved online through Ventura Parks & Rec. As of September 24 the 1 PM tour was full and 2 PM had two spots left.
Olivas Adobe Historical Park, 4200 Olivas Park Dr, Ventura
The library builds its own walk-through haunted house with scare actors, loud sounds, and dim lighting. Groups of one to four, and everyone can go through up to twice.
Camarillo Public Library Community Room, 4101 Las Posas Rd, Camarillo
Ghost author Richard Senate walks through Ventura County's haunted missions, theaters, and historic buildings in an after-hours talk at the Thousand Oaks Library. Use the main entrance.
Grant R. Brimhall Library, 1401 E Janss Rd, Thousand Oaks
A one-day-only Island Packers cruise through the Santa Barbara Channel with tales of shipwrecks, sea legends, and island history, and a good chance of whales and dolphins. It doesn't land on the islands. Costumes are welcome, but no masks that block vision and no prop weapons.

Parties, a bar crawl, a costume run, and a candlelit concert, in date order. Check the age limits, since some are 18+ and some are 21+.
PVRPD's costume dance for adults 50 and over, with dinner and live music by Seniors Of Note.
Camarillo Community Center Auditorium, 1605 E Burnley St, Camarillo
A gothic vampire party with performers, a vendor market, themed cocktails, and a best-dressed vampire contest at 10 PM (sign up in the lobby by 9:30). A vampire costume is required to get in, and no weapons, real or fake.
Majestic Ventura Theater, 26 S. Chestnut St, Ventura
A daytime charity bar crawl run by NextGen Rotary, with a specialty drink at each of five downtown stops (KJ's Neighborhood Bar, The Saloon, The Victorian Tavern, Rocks & Drams, and Livery at Rumfish y Vino) and a 2 PM costume contest at Mission Park. Proceeds go to Food Share and NextGen Rotary. The organizer says buying before October 11 saves $10.
Downtown Ventura (check-in location to be announced)
A small timed Halloween race with four distances, and costumes are encouraged. The half marathon has a 3 hour 15 minute limit.
Rancho Simi Park, 1765 Royal Ave, Simi Valley
A candlelit string quartet concert of horror and Halloween music, from The Exorcist and Stranger Things to Beetlejuice and The Nightmare Before Christmas, with Saint-Saëns and Mussorgsky in the mix. Doors open 45 minutes early and there's no late entry.
Samuelson Chapel, Cal Lutheran, 165 Chapel Ln, Thousand Oaks
The 8th annual flotilla of costumed witches and warlocks on paddleboards and kayaks through Ventura Harbor. A life vest and a buddy are required, and it runs at the same time as Seaside Trick or Treat, so the kids can watch from shore.

Tribute bands Electric Duke (Bowie) and Doctor Wu (Steely Dan) trade sets in the hotel's top-floor ballroom while the crowd votes by QR code. The top five costumes go on stage at 9:10 PM for cash and prizes, and hotel packages are available if you'd rather not drive home.

A Halloween and Día de los Muertos party at the golf club, with a red carpet, a DJ, a cash bar, photo setups, a costume contest with prizes, and VIP tables.

That afternoon, BooFest in Old Town Camarillo, trick-or-treating at Camarillo Premium Outlets, Owl-O-Ween at the Stagecoach Inn in Newbury Park, the Oak Park and Simi Valley kids' carnivals, and Haunted High Street in Moorpark are all running, and Downtown Ventura's Día de los Muertos kicks off on Main Street with a night market and a trunk-or-treat. For grown-ups there's the Rockstar Halloween Ball in Ventura, 21+ parties at River Ridge Golf Club and Zachari Dunes in Oxnard, and Club Louie's in Westlake Village. Reign of Terror in Thousand Oaks and Devil's Doorway in Ventura are both open that night.
Underwood Family Farms in Moorpark is the big farm day, with wagon rides, a corn maze, and animals, open daily September 26 through October 31 ($16 weekdays, $30 to $38 weekends online). Conejo Family Farms in Camarillo is smaller, cheaper ($15 to $20), and open into the evening. Prancers Farm in Santa Paula runs through November 1, and Boccali Ranch in Ojai is free to walk in and lets leashed dogs into the field. Boccali Ranch's pumpkin patch in Ojai is also free to enter.
Yes. Reign of Terror inside Janss Marketplace in Thousand Oaks runs 18 nights from September 25 to November 1, with 12 connected haunts, general admission from $39.99 to $49.99, and a 13-and-up recommendation. Devil's Doorway is a VFW-run haunted maze in Ventura, open Fridays through Sundays from October 17 through Halloween weekend. For younger kids, Reign of Terror's fully lit Lights ON walk-through is Saturday, October 17, from noon to 3 PM for $15.
We couldn't find official trick-or-treat hours from any Ventura County city, so it comes down to your neighborhood, and most get going around dusk. On Saturday, October 31, 2026, sunset in Ventura is about 6:05 PM and it's fully dark by about 6:30. If you'd rather trick-or-treat in daylight, Old Town Camarillo's BooFest runs noon to 3 PM and Moorpark's Haunted High Street runs 4 to 7 PM.
Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, 2026, on Main Street, and it's free. Saturday's Halloween night market and trunk-or-treat run 2 to 9 PM, and Sunday's festival runs 11 AM to 6 PM, across seven blocks with 200+ lowriders expected. Oxnard's Panteón Fest is earlier, on Saturday, October 17, and the Oxnard Performing Arts Center's free celebration is Sunday, October 25.
PVRPD's Spooktacular Bash for 50+ in Camarillo (October 23), the Bloodsuckers Ball at the Majestic Ventura Theater (October 24, 18+, vampire costume required), the Crawl-O-Ween charity bar crawl in downtown Ventura (October 25, 21+), a candlelit Halloween concert at Cal Lutheran and the Witches Paddle in Ventura Harbor (October 30), and on Halloween night the Rockstar Halloween Ball at Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach, 21+ parties at River Ridge Golf Club and Zachari Dunes in Oxnard, and Club Louie's in Westlake Village.
No. The Fillmore & Western Railway's own site says its train rides are permanently closed. The closest thing this year is Sunburst Railbikes in Santa Paula, which runs pedal railbikes along the old branch line to the Prancers Farm pumpkin patch on October weekends and on Halloween.
