Halloween 2026 falls on a Saturday, so a lot of the county's Halloween events stack up on October 31 itself: Haunted High Street in Moorpark, BooFest in Old Town Camarillo, kids' carnivals in Simi Valley and Oak Park, and the free Día de los Muertos kickoff on Main Street in Ventura. Pumpkin patches open in late September, and daylight saving time ends early Sunday morning, so you get an extra hour after the late night.

Every listing below was checked against the organizer's own site. When a 2026 date or price wasn't posted yet, the card says so instead of guessing. For everything else happening this fall, month by month, see fall events in Ventura County, and our full events calendar has the rest.

Most farms open the last week of September and run through Halloween. Weekends are busier and cost more, and Underwood sells weekend tickets online only, so a weekday afternoon is the cheaper, calmer way to go.

Weekend tickets are sold online only with timed entry. Seniors, military, veterans, and first responders get $2 off, and military and first responders get in free on September 26 and 27. No dogs.

Where are the best pumpkin patches in Ventura County?

Underwood Family Farms in Moorpark is the big farm day, with wagon rides, a corn maze, and animals, open daily September 26 through October 31 ($16 weekdays, $30 to $38 weekends online). Conejo Family Farms in Camarillo is smaller, cheaper ($15 to $20), and open into the evening. Prancers Farm in Santa Paula runs through November 1, and Boccali Ranch in Ojai is free to walk in and lets leashed dogs into the field.

Are there free Halloween events in Ventura County?

Yes, plenty. Free options include Haunted High Street in Moorpark (the kids' carnival costs extra), BooFest in Old Town Camarillo, Seaside Trick or Treat at Ventura Harbor Village, Halloween in the Park in Camarillo, Haunt in the Park in Downtown Oxnard, the Candy Crawl at The Collection in Oxnard, the Fillmore Trunk or Treat, and Día de los Muertos in Downtown Ventura. Boccali Ranch's pumpkin patch in Ojai is also free to enter.

Is there a haunted house in Ventura County?

Yes. Reign of Terror inside Janss Marketplace in Thousand Oaks runs 18 nights from September 25 to November 1, with 12 connected haunts, general admission from $39.99 to $49.99, and a 13-and-up recommendation. Devil's Doorway is a VFW-run haunted maze in Ventura, open October weekends from the 17th through Halloween night. For younger kids, Reign of Terror's fully lit Lights ON walk-through is Saturday, October 17, from noon to 3 PM for $15.

What are the trick-or-treat hours in Ventura County?

We couldn't find official trick-or-treat hours from any Ventura County city, so it comes down to your neighborhood, and most get going around dusk. On Saturday, October 31, 2026, sunset in Ventura is about 6:05 PM and it's fully dark by about 6:30. If you'd rather trick-or-treat in daylight, Old Town Camarillo's BooFest runs noon to 3 PM and Moorpark's Haunted High Street runs 4 to 7 PM.

When is Día de los Muertos in Downtown Ventura?

Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, 2026, on Main Street, and it's free. Saturday's Halloween night market and trunk-or-treat run 2 to 9 PM, and Sunday's festival runs 11 AM to 6 PM, across seven blocks with 200+ lowriders expected. Oxnard's Panteón Fest is earlier, on Saturday, October 17, and the Oxnard Performing Arts Center's free celebration is Sunday, October 25.

What Halloween events are there for adults in Ventura County?

The Bloodsuckers Ball at the Majestic Ventura Theater (October 24, 18+, vampire costume required), the Crawl-O-Ween charity bar crawl in downtown Ventura (October 25, 21+), a candlelit Halloween concert at Cal Lutheran (October 30), and on Halloween night the Rockstar Halloween Ball at Crowne Plaza Ventura Beach, a 21+ party at River Ridge Golf Club in Oxnard, and Club Louie's in Westlake Village.

Is the Fillmore & Western pumpkin train running in 2026?

No. The Fillmore & Western Railway's own site says its train rides are permanently closed. The closest thing this year is Sunburst Railbikes in Santa Paula, which runs pedal railbikes along the old branch line to the Prancers Farm pumpkin patch on October weekends and on Halloween.
