Most Ventura County pumpkin patches open in the last two weeks of September and close on Halloween. The big farm days are in Moorpark, Camarillo, and Santa Paula, where one ticket covers the hayride, the corn maze, and the patch. If you just want a pumpkin, the free patches and parking-lot patches are faster and cost nothing to walk into. Weekends are the busiest and most expensive days at every farm, so a weekday afternoon is the easy way to go.

Admission covers the hayride, a 5-acre corn maze, a hay maze, the patch, the sunflower fields, bounce houses, and live music, plus a petting zoo on weekends from noon to 6. Sunflowers are $1 a stem and U-pick sweet corn is $1 an ear. The hayride, maze, and fields close 30 minutes after sunset, so get there by late afternoon if those are the point. No pets.

It's the one big farm that welcomes dogs, and it stays open a day past Halloween.

  • Four Seasons of Fun pumpkin patch, Simi Valley

    Last year it ran daily through November 2 in the Simi Valley Town Center parking lot, with rides sold separately. No 2026 dates yet.

  • Mizel Estate You-Pick Pumpkin Days, Thousand Oaks

    Free pick-your-own afternoons in Hidden Valley, run by the Mizel Family Foundation's youth program. Last year they ran October 14 to 30. No 2026 dates yet.

  • Simi Valley Town Center free pumpkin giveaway, Simi Valley

    A one-day free pumpkin per child, held October 18 last year. No 2026 date yet.

  • Christ the King Lutheran pumpkin patch, Newbury Park

    A youth-group fundraiser patch that ran through Halloween in past years. The church's website is down, so call (805) 498-2217 before you go.

No longer running

  • Fillmore & Western pumpkin train. The railway's own site says its train rides are permanently closed. Sunburst Railbikes in Santa Paula is the closest thing.
  • Santa Paula Rotary pumpkin patch at Limoneira. Its own site still says it was canceled for 2023, with no update since.
  • Stu Miller's pumpkin lots in Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks. Seasonal Adventures doesn't list a Ventura County pumpkin lot this year, only Christmas tree lots.

Before you go

A few things worth knowing

Go on a weekday if you can. Every farm charges less Monday to Friday: Underwood is $16 instead of $30 to $38, Conejo is $15 instead of $20, and Prancers is $14 instead of $20 to $25, and the lines are shorter too.

Buy Underwood's weekend tickets ahead. Weekend entry is sold online only, by date and entry time. Anything left sells on the day for $4 more, and some weekends don't have anything left.

Admission doesn't include a pumpkin. At the farms, the ticket covers the hayride, the maze, and the fun; the pumpkin you take home is extra. Bring cash for Conejo, where cards carry a fee.

Watch the sunset. It drops from about 6:50 PM in late September to about 6:05 PM by Halloween. Conejo stays open until 8:30 on Fridays and weekends, but its hayride, corn maze, and fields close 30 minutes after sunset.

Wear closed-toe shoes. The farms are dirt and hay, and the railbikes require them. A hat and sunscreen help on a hot October afternoon in Moorpark or Santa Paula.

Leave the dog home unless it's Prancers or Boccali. Underwood and Conejo don't allow pets. Prancers is pet-friendly, and Boccali welcomes leashed dogs in the corn field area.

What is the best pumpkin patch in Ventura County?

For a full farm day, Underwood Family Farms in Moorpark is the biggest, with a corn maze, wagon rides, animals, and 50 acres, open daily September 26 to October 31. Conejo Family Farms in Camarillo is smaller and cheaper and stays open into the evening, and Prancers Farm in Santa Paula is the one that welcomes dogs and runs through November 1. For a free patch, Boccali Ranch in Ojai is open daily in October.

When do pumpkin patches open in Ventura County in 2026?

Conejo Family Farms opened September 18. Underwood Family Farms and Prancers Farm open September 26, McGrath Great Pacific Pumpkins in Ventura opens Tuesday, September 29, Big Wave Dave's opens September 30, and Boccali Ranch and Downtown Ventura's patch open October 1. Most close on Halloween; Prancers stays open through Sunday, November 1.

Are there free pumpkin patches in Ventura County?

Yes. Boccali Ranch in Ojai is free to walk in all of October, Big Wave Dave's at Pacific View Mall doesn't list an admission charge, and Downtown Ventura's patch at California and Main is free to wander. Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village gives pumpkins for a donation on October 3 and 4, and Peace Lutheran's Pumpkin Fest in Camarillo on October 24 is free to enter. You pay for the pumpkins you take home.

The closest confirmed farms are Underwood Family Farms in Moorpark and Conejo Family Farms in Camarillo, and Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village has a pumpkin patch weekend on October 3 and 4.

Which pumpkin patches are open at night?

Conejo Family Farms in Camarillo is open until 8:30 PM Friday through Sunday, though its hayride, maze, and fields close 30 minutes after sunset. Big Wave Dave's in Ventura is open until 8 PM Monday through Thursday and 9 PM Friday through Sunday, Boccali Ranch in Ojai until 7 PM, and Downtown Ventura's patch stays open until 10 PM for Harvest After Dark on October 24.

Is the Fillmore pumpkin train running in 2026?

No. The Fillmore & Western Railway's own site says its train rides are permanently closed. The closest thing is Sunburst Railbikes in Santa Paula, which pedals railbikes along the old branch line to the Prancers Farm patch on October weekends and on Halloween.
