Simi Valley at a glance

Simi Valley is Ventura County's third-largest city, with about 126,000 people in roughly 42 square miles of the county's southeast corner, next to the San Fernando Valley. The name comes from the Chumash word Shimiyi, and the valley's modern history runs through ranching and Hollywood: Corriganville, now a public park, was the movie ranch where Fort Apache and Bonanza were filmed. Parks, trails and several of the museums here are run by the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District rather than the city.

The big draw is the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library & Museum, dedicated in 1991, where you can walk through the Air Force One that flew seven presidents. From November 7, 2026 to May 31, 2027 it hosts the world premiere of Princess Diana: Love Life Legacy, with more than 700 artifacts. October is busy too, with Steampunk at Strathearn, Oktoberfest and the Simi Valley Street Fair. Below you'll find this week's Simi Valley events, then trails, museums, shopping and kid spots, where to eat, and the dates worth planning around.
