Holiday Open House

Strathearn Historical Park invites the community to step into history this winter for its annual Holiday Open House on December 6th. The event will run from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., offering guests a unique opportunity to experience traditional crafts and seasonal festivities. Admission to the event is free.

Visitors can explore a variety of immersive, functioning historical shops that showcase the artistry of previous eras. The event will feature a Blacksmith Shop, a Vintage Letterpress Print Shop, an 1890s Hand Woodworking shop, and an 1850s Wet Plate Photography shop. Additionally, guests can try their hand at traditional cordage in a shop featuring an antique hand-powered rope-making machine.

To make navigating the grounds easy, a festive hay wagon will operate as a park tram. Guests can ride the wagon to explore the various attractions and may hop on or off at any of the three designated tram stops throughout the park.

The day will be filled with seasonal music and entertainment, featuring performances by the Sinaloa Middle School Choir, the Channel Islands Chorus, and Elaine Lister a solo harpist.
Families are encouraged to bring their children for a variety of interactive activities. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on-site to pose for holiday photos, and a professional face painter will be available to add some color to the celebration. For high-energy fun, children can create giant bubbles and compete in water bucket races using two antique-style water pumps.
