Camarillo at a glance

Camarillo sits between Oxnard and the Conejo Grade, and about 68,800 people live here, according to the state's January 2026 estimate. The city incorporated on October 22, 1964, and carries the name of the Camarillo family, whose 1892 Queen Anne Victorian still stands at the Camarillo Ranch. CSU Channel Islands, which opened in 2002, has a Camarillo address, and Camarillo Airport began in 1942 as a World War II flight strip that later became Oxnard Air Force Base. That history is why a free WWII aviation museum sits beside the runway today.

Old Town, the original town site laid out in 1910, runs along Ventura Boulevard with restaurants, boutiques, the Saturday farmers market and bronze statues of the actors Joel McCrea and Walter Brennan. It is also where the city throws most of its parties, from October's BooFest to December's Old Town Glow. Camarillo Premium Outlets draws shoppers from across the region, and new openings keep coming: Texas Roadhouse opens on October 19 and Costco on October 30. Below you'll find this week's Camarillo events, then the parks, museums, shopping and kid-friendly spots worth knowing, where to eat, and the annual events worth planning around.

Details checked Sep 16, 2026. Hours and prices change, so confirm with the venue before you go.
