Terms of Service
Last updated: April 12, 2026
Welcome to Ventura County Local. By accessing or using the site you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
1. What we do
Ventura County Local aggregates public event listings from multiple sources and lets community members submit their own events for review. We're not the organizer of the events listed here — we just help people find them.
2. Accuracy of listings
We do our best to show accurate event information, including times, venues, and prices. That said, event details can change after we publish them. Always confirm critical details (date, time, cost, cancellation status) directly with the organizer before you go. We are not liable for canceled, rescheduled, or misrepresented events.
3. Your account
You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for anything that happens under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. Provide accurate information when registering — don't impersonate anyone.
4. Submitting events
When you submit an event to Ventura County Local, you confirm that:
- You have the right to share the information you're submitting (you're the organizer, have permission, or it's a public event).
- The information is accurate and not misleading.
- The event complies with local, state, and federal law.
- You grant us a non-exclusive license to display, edit for clarity, and promote your submission on our site and channels.
We review every submission and may reject or remove events that violate these terms or that we deem inappropriate, off- topic, or duplicative.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Submit spam, misleading content, or fake events
- Harass, threaten, or impersonate other users or venues
- Scrape or automate access to the site beyond what robots.txt allows
- Attempt to bypass security measures, rate limits, or access controls
- Use the site to promote illegal activity
6. User content
You keep ownership of the content you submit, but you grant Ventura County Local a worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute it in connection with operating and promoting the site. We may edit submissions for clarity or remove them at our discretion.
7. Third-party content
Some events on the site come from third-party sources (Meetup, SeatGeek, Ventura County Library, 805 Calendar, local venues, etc.). We're not responsible for the accuracy or availability of third-party content. Links to external sites are provided for convenience — we don't endorse them and aren't responsible for their content.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The site is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Ventura County Local and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the site — including but not limited to lost profits, lost data, or event-related losses.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Ventura County Local and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses arising out of your use of the site, your violation of these terms, or content you submit.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Significant changes will be announced on the site. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Ventura County, California.
