New Restaurants in Ventura County: 2026 Openings

I keep a running list of what is opening in Ventura County, mostly because people ask me about it constantly. Here is where that list stands on September 9, 2026: what has already opened this year, what opens in the next six weeks, and what is still a construction fence and a promise. Addresses, hours and phone numbers below come from the businesses themselves wherever I could get them, and I have flagged the ones I could not confirm.

Open now: 2026 restaurant openings

Carne, Oxnard

511 Town Center Dr. at The Collection at RiverPark, 805-236-3470. Carne calls itself a modern Latin fire grill, drawing on Argentine parrillas, Mexican open-fire kitchens, Spanish asadors and Caribbean coastal markets. The menu is steaks, seafood, cocktails and house-made tortillas. The ribbon-cutting was July 10, 2026, hosted by the West Ventura County Business Alliance with actor Mario Lopez on hand. Current hours on their own site are Monday to Thursday 4 to 10 p.m., Friday 4 to 11 p.m., Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Note that these are not the hours the July coverage printed. They have added weekend lunch. Happy hour is Monday through Thursday, 4 to 7 p.m.

Flora Loca Rooftop Cantina, Oxnard

801 Town Center Drive, (805) 919-0003, open daily noon to 9 p.m. Visit Oxnard describes it as Oxnard's first rooftop restaurant. It opened in June 2026 (no exact date was ever published) with Executive Chef Jorge Vera in the kitchen, serving Mexican food and cocktails. It sits on top of the 121-suite SpringHill Suites by Marriott Ventura Oxnard, which DKN Hotels opened at the same address back in February. Two openings, one building.

Slice House by Tony Gemignani, Ventura

1780 S. Victoria Ave., Unit E, in Montalvo Square. One correction worth making, because it is repeated everywhere: Slice House Ventura did not open in July. July was the target in the May press release. It actually opened Saturday, August 8, 2026, with a hat giveaway for the first 50 guests and a raffle for free pizza for a year. The menu runs New York, Sicilian, Grandma and Detroit styles by the slice or the whole pie, plus pastas, wings and salads, with gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options, craft beer and wine. Franchisee Vinny Margott is a Ventura native. This is his seventh Slice House and the chain's 35th, with 35 indoor seats and a shared outdoor patio. Announced hours were 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, but those came from the same release that got the opening month wrong, so call before a late run.

Magma Modern Italian Pizzeria, Newbury Park

711 Wendy Dr, (805) 506-9938. The grand opening was Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at 3 p.m., with 20 percent off dine-in pizzas during the first week. This is Magma's second location and its first outside Moorpark, in the former Pizza Twist space in Conejo Gateway Plaza, and it adds a deli and a grab-and-go section stocked with imported Italian goods. All the pizzas are 12 inches, six slices. On the Moorpark menu prices run about $16 to $30, with the $16 being a kids' pie, so plan on roughly $20 and up for an adult pizza. Newbury Park pricing has not been confirmed separately.

Wok Haus Modern Chinese Kitchen, Thousand Oaks

1032 E Avenida De Los Arboles in the North Oaks Center, +1 (805) 241-7761. Opened August 22, 2026. Open Wednesday through Monday, 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., closed Tuesdays. Their own site words the schedule confusingly, so I will say it plainly: do not drive over on a Tuesday.

Mahina Sushi, Newbury Park

771 Wendy Drive in Conejo Gateway Plaza, in the former Tomodachi Sushi space under new ownership. It was reported open as of September 1, 2026, though no opening date was ever published. Mahina means moon. The kitchen promises fresh fish, more than thirty signature rolls and, in their words, a little bit of aloha on every plate.

Shooby's, Poke & K-Roll and Carrara's, Camarillo

Three smaller ones worth knowing. Shooby's opened in April 2026 at 2024 Ventura Boulevard in Old Town, in the old Freda's Pizza space, doing smashburgers with Certified Angus beef, hand-cut fries, Mary's Chicken, house-made pickles and sauces, and hand-spun Haagen-Dazs milkshakes. Poke & K-Roll soft opened in late August at 455 Carmen Drive in Carmen Plaza, taking over the former Poke U & Me, with K-rolls built on Korean kimbap. Carrara's Italian Cafe is at 2290 E. Ventura Blvd at Arneill and was in a soft opening as of early August, serving coffee, paninis, gelato and pastries. Its location page lists hours of Tuesday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., closed Mondays. No firm opening date has been announced.

Two big non-restaurant openings

Erewhon, Thousand Oaks. The store is at 2150 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd inside The Lakes, whose own address is 2200 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd, which is why you see both numbers online. The grand opening ran 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on August 26, 2026, with gift bags and first access to store-exclusive items. Erewhon itself confirmed this is its first storefront outside Los Angeles County. There is a Tonic Bar, a cafe and indoor and outdoor seating. The store debuted an exclusive smoothie called Amidst the Oaks, which benefits the Manna Conejo Valley Food Bank, though published ingredient lists for it conflict, so ask at the bar. Erewhon announced regular hours of 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., which I could not confirm against the store now that it is trading. Call first if you are making the drive.

POP MART, The Oaks. The first Ventura County location for the blind box collectibles brand, open as of mid-August with a grand opening celebration on August 22. It is on the first floor next to Starbucks, selling designer toys and original characters including the MOLLY, SKULLPANDA and DIMOO lines. It is also the first major new retailer at the 1.3 million square foot mall since Stockdale Capital Partners bought it, and the company says more are coming.

Late October is Camarillo's big fortnight

Two confirmed openings land 11 days apart on the same boulevard. Texas Roadhouse opens Monday, October 19, 2026 at 650 E. Ventura Blvd, next to Finney's Crafthouse by the Promenade section of the Camarillo Premium Outlets. Reporting says it is the chain's first Ventura County location, and it has been a long wait: the company originally projected summer 2025. Planned hours posted by the chain are Monday to Thursday 3 to 10 p.m., Friday 3 to 11 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Those are pre-opening hours, not observed ones, and opening day is a Monday, so doors would be at 3 p.m. unless they announce something special.

Then Costco at 431 W. Ventura Blvd. Costco's own warehouse page carries an opening date of October 30, 2026. The gas station has already been running since May. The City of Camarillo announced a 160,000 square foot warehouse with a free-standing gas station at the west end of Camarillo Town Center, south of the 101 near the Springville exit and west of Home Depot. Separate reporting puts the fuel station at 32 pumps or more. Plans include a food court, bakery, pharmacy, optical and hearing centers and a tire service center.

Announced but not open yet

• Round1 Bowling & Arcade, Ventura: Pacific View Mall still lists it as coming soon and under construction. Planned at 55,000 square feet with 12 lanes, billiards, karaoke rooms and an arcade, alongside a YUU Japanese Food Hall. The original target was the first half of 2026.
• Simi Valley Brewing Co.: 20 W Cochran St. Their site still says "Something's Brewing." It is an 8,400 square foot build-out in the former Marie Callender's with on-site production and a barbecue kitchen. Hours and a phone number are posted, which suggests they are close, but do not show up expecting a pint.
• Whole Foods Market, Thousand Oaks: coming soon at 140 Promenade Way in the former Amazon Fresh space. No date.
• The Lakes, Thousand Oaks: Savta (wood-fired pizza, pasta, French-California), solidcore and PopUp Bagels are all announced without dates. Sora Handroll Bar had a reported June 1, 2026 target that came and went and is still listed as coming soon.
• Also pending: Capri Trattoria and Pizzeria at 140 W. Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks, Juice It Up on Avenida De Los Arboles, and a fourth county Slice House at 2390 Las Posas Road in Camarillo Village Square, in the old Pizza Man Dan's.
