Leap Lab Speakers Series: Curiosity In Action

Join LEAP LAB: Ventura County Science Center in Santa Paula for a free STEM education event featuring marine scientist, STEM educator, and science communicator Dr. Dijanna Figueroa.

Dr. Figueroa began her career exploring the deep ocean and was featured in James Cameron’s documentary Aliens of the Deep. Today, she creates hands-on science experiences that help young people build underwater robots and sensors, fly drones, explore the natural world, and approach science, engineering, and innovation with creativity and curiosity.

Through stories from marine science, ocean exploration, and hands-on learning, Dr. Figueroa will explore three abilities we all share:

Curiosity that makes us ask WHY?
Imagination that invites us to wonder WHAT IF?
Innovation that helps us discover HOW?
Her message to young explorers is simple: Stay curious.
