Local Guide · Sports Bars

Where to watch
the game.

The Ventura County bars, pubs, and restaurants that actually put it on. Screen counts, who opens early, and who shows soccer, sorted by city.

Everybody has a bar they swear by, and everybody has been burned by a place that turned out to have two TVs and the sound off. So this is the list I actually wanted: 29 spots across Ventura County that put the game on, with the screen counts where they publish them and the opening times that matter when kickoff is before noon.

Every place here has evidence on its own site, Facebook, or listing that it shows sports. Where the internet says one thing and the bar itself says nothing, I've said so rather than pass the claim along. A few names you might expect are missing because they closed, and I'd rather have a shorter list you can trust. When you're done here, the events calendar has the rest of the weekend, and the guides hub has more lists like this one.

Sorted by city

The Spots

Tap any card for the bar's own site. Hours change, kitchens close, and bars turn over fast, so call before you make the drive.

Ventura

8 spots
Social Tap
16 screens

Social Tap

1105 S Seaward Ave, Ventura
Opens 10 AM Sat and Sun, 11 AM weekdays

The closest thing Ventura has to a proper big-screen sports bar. Sixteen large TVs, two dozen taps, roll-up doors, and an industrial brewpub room a block off the beach that gets loud in the right way. If you want to be sure you can see a screen from wherever you end up standing, start here.

Happy Place Eatery
Shows soccer

Happy Place Eatery

586 E Main St, Ventura
Opens 11 AM daily

The only spot in the county whose own site comes right out and says it shows World Cup soccer, alongside Lakers, Dodgers, NFL, and NBA. Seven big screens on the walls, 18 local craft taps, and a menu built on smash burgers with a genuinely good vegan side to it. Downtown, walkable, and the safest bet on this page if the game you care about is a soccer match.

Cronies Sports Grill
Opens 9 AM

Cronies Sports Grill

2855 Johnson Dr, Ventura
9 AM to 10 PM daily

Around since 1990 and still the county default for a full Sunday NFL slate. It opens at 9 AM every day, which makes it the one realistic option on this page for a kickoff that lands before lunch. Family-friendly, wings are the move, and nobody will look at you funny for showing up at nine to watch a game.

The Bench Warmer

The Bench Warmer

1855 E Main St, Ventura
Sun from 10 AM, Mon to Sat from 2 PM

A real dive, open since 1975, and it knows exactly what it is. Pool table, jukebox, a big smoking patio, and big screens they went out and bought on purpose. No kitchen, so eat first. It opens at 10 AM on Sundays and not until 2 PM the rest of the week.

Santa Cruz Sports Bar
9 screens

Santa Cruz Sports Bar

1947 E Main St, Ventura
Noon to 9 PM daily

A nine-screen sports bar with 30 beers on tap, tucked inside a Mediterranean and Middle Eastern grocery. That sounds like a mistake and it absolutely is not. You walk through the market to get to it. Genuinely one of the more interesting rooms in the county to watch a match in.

O'Leary's Tavern

O'Leary's Tavern

6555 Telephone Rd #7, Ventura

Neighborhood tavern with pool, darts, and karaoke, and a listing that specifically calls out Sunday NFL games. Bar snacks only, though they are relaxed about you bringing food in. This is a local's bar, not a destination, which is the whole appeal.

Hours are listed as 9 AM to 2 AM on third-party sites but aren't confirmed anywhere they publish themselves. Worth a call before an early game.

Victoria Pub & Grill

Victoria Pub & Grill

1413 S Victoria Ave, Ste F, Ventura
Opens 11 AM, closed Mondays

A 1988 neighborhood pub that sells itself on billiards and darts rather than screens. It does turn up in soccer-watching searches and it carries the sports listings, but their own marketing is about the games room.

The '14 TVs and the NFL package' line you'll find all over the internet traces only to aggregator sites. Their own site never mentions a TV. Call first if the game is the whole point of your trip.

Yard Bar & Grill

Yard Bar & Grill

328 E Main St, Ventura
Opens 11 AM weekends, 11:30 AM weekdays

Downtown craft-burger place from the Cronies team, with one big four-panel screen. This is a restaurant with a bar and a game on, not a sports bar, and it's the better call if half your group cares more about the food than the score.

Oxnard & the Harbor

5 spots
Opens 8 AM weekends

The Lookout Bar & Grill

2800 S Harbor Blvd, Suite B, Oxnard
Sat and Sun from 8 AM, weekdays from 11 AM

A waterfront British pub at Channel Islands Harbor, which makes it the most soccer-friendly room in Oxnard almost by default. Big screens, karaoke, live music, harbor views, and an 8 AM open on Saturdays and Sundays that lines up with European kickoffs better than anywhere else in the county.

The Shores Bar & Restaurant
9 screens

The Shores Bar & Restaurant

1031 Harbor Blvd, Oxnard
11 AM daily, 9 AM weekends in football season

Beachfront farm-to-table with a bar that takes football season seriously. Nine TVs, DirecTV and Spectrum, NFL Sunday Ticket, and the Dodgers and Lakers channels. They move the open up to 9 AM on football-season weekends and opened the doors at 10 for the Super Bowl, which tells you where their priorities are.

Q Club
Opens 9 AM

Q Club

2362 N Oxnard Blvd, Oxnard
9 AM to 2 AM daily

A big billiards-and-sports lounge built around pool tables and fight nights. Their own sports-packages page is the most complete in the county: NFL Sunday Ticket, the college package, MLB Extra Innings, NBA League Pass, Fox Soccer Plus, and boxing and UFC pay-per-views. Open 9 AM to 2 AM every day.

Fox Soccer Plus is a European package. If you're after Liga MX, call and ask before you count on it.

Amigos Sports Bar & Grill

2831 E Vineyard Ave, Oxnard

A Latin American sports bar and grill on the east side, and the most promising Liga MX candidate I turned up anywhere in the county. Listed under sports bars everywhere it appears.

No website and no social presence I could verify, so the sports claim rests on listings alone and the hours conflict between sources. Call before you go. If you've been, tell me and I'll firm this one up.

The Thirsty Ox

The Thirsty Ox

640 N Ventura Rd, Oxnard

Neighborhood dive with pool tables, karaoke, and DJs, and a Bar Rescue makeover in 2024 that it survived with its name intact. Visit Oxnard says you can cheer on your teams here.

Its own directory listing talks about pool and live music, not sports, and Yelp files it under cocktail bars. Treat the game as a maybe, not the plan.

Camarillo

5 spots
Cronies Sports Grill
Opens 8 AM weekends

Cronies Sports Grill

370 N Lantana St, Camarillo
Sat and Sun from 8 AM, weekdays from 9 AM

The Camarillo branch of the county's most dependable sports grill. Wall of TVs, wings, family-friendly, and an 8 AM weekend open that beats every independent bar in town for a morning match.

The Clubhouse Sports Bar & Grill

The Clubhouse Sports Bar & Grill

369 Arneill Rd, Camarillo

Calls itself a sports bar in capital letters on its own site and then lists pool, darts, beer, and sports, in that order. Drinking-first neighborhood room rather than a dining option, with plenty of screens.

Their site says 10 AM to 10 PM daily; the visitor bureau says 11 AM to 2 AM. Somebody's wrong, so call.

Twisted Oak Tavern & Brewery

Twisted Oak Tavern & Brewery

2433 Ventura Blvd, Camarillo
Opens 11:30 AM most days, 4 PM Mon and Tue

Old Town brewpub in a 1916 building with a scratch kitchen and house beer. Their own site promises large TVs showing the biggest sports events of the day. It's a tavern that respects the game rather than a sports bar, and the food is the reason to pick it.

Ric's Restaurant & Sports Lounge

Ric's Restaurant & Sports Lounge

2500 Las Posas Rd, Suite A, Camarillo
Sat and Sun from 9 AM, weekdays from 11 AM

A sit-down restaurant with an attached sports lounge, pub food, a full bar, and weekend breakfast from 9 AM. The sports lounge half is right there in the name.

El Rey Cantina

El Rey Cantina

2302 Ventura Blvd, Camarillo

Downtown Mexican restaurant and tequila bar with Taco Tuesday and live music. A cantina that will likely have a game on rather than a sports bar.

One listing credits it with 12 screens, but neither its own site nor the visitor bureau mentions a TV anywhere. Worth a call if the match is the point.

Thousand Oaks & Newbury Park

5 spots
Crown & Anchor
Best for soccer

Crown & Anchor

2891 E Thousand Oaks Blvd, Thousand Oaks
11 AM to 1 AM, earlier for live soccer

The best soccer pub in Ventura County and it isn't close. A family-owned British pub, opened in 1996 by a Middlesbrough family, whose own site names the Premier League, World Cup, Euros, and Champions League by competition. They shift their hours around kickoffs, opening early or staying open to 1:45 AM for a match. For the World Cup they've said no reservations on Saturday or Sunday, first come first served until full. If you only read one entry on this page, this is it.

Breakers Sports Bar & Grill
17 screens

Breakers Sports Bar & Grill

398 N Moorpark Rd, Thousand Oaks
Sat and Sun from noon, Tue to Fri from 3 PM, closed Mon

Seventeen flatscreens in a 360-degree layout, live bands on weekends, and a proper sports-bar room. They ran a World Cup watch party this summer and opened at 11:30 AM for it, well before their normal hours, so they'll move for a big fixture.

Normal hours start at noon or later. For a morning kickoff, call and ask whether they're opening early.

Cronies Sports Grill
Opens 8 AM weekends

Cronies Sports Grill

1620 Newbury Rd, Newbury Park
Sat and Sun from 8 AM, weekdays from 9 AM

Same formula as the Ventura and Camarillo rooms: multiple TVs, breakfast, a dog-friendly patio, and an 8 AM weekend open. For an early European kickoff in the Conejo Valley, this is the practical answer.

Azar's Sports Bar & Grill
Opens 9 AM

Azar's Sports Bar & Grill

2215 Michael Dr, Newbury Park
9 AM to 2 AM, Mon until 11 PM

A neighborhood sports bar that leads with karaoke and live music about as much as it leads with the game, which is part of the charm. Plenty of TVs, open 9 AM to 2 AM almost every day.

Boney Mountain Pizza Company

Boney Mountain Pizza Company

722 N Wendy Dr, Newbury Park
Sun and Mon from 9 AM, Tue to Sat from 11:30 AM

Family pizza place with a full bar and 25 taps, in the room that used to be Magoo's Sports Grill. Filed under sports bars, and it does have TVs, but it's a pizzeria now and the sports-bar reputation belongs to the previous tenant.

Simi Valley & Santa Paula

4 spots
The Arena Grill & Lounge
25 screens

The Arena Grill & Lounge

999 Enchanted Way, Simi Valley
Opens 4 PM, Sun 9:30 AM in football season

The biggest screen count in the east county: over 25 TVs running 10 separate satellite feeds, plus live music and a real kitchen. When it's open for a game, nothing in Simi touches it.

Read those hours carefully. Outside football season it doesn't open until 4 PM, which means it's shut for a Sunday noon kickoff. Call before you count on it.

Cronies Sports Grill
Opens 8 AM weekends

Cronies Sports Grill

2752 Cochran St, Simi Valley
Sat and Sun from 8 AM, weekdays from 10 AM

The Simi branch of the chain, and the practical answer here for anything before mid-afternoon. Multiple TVs, wings, breakfast, and doors open at 8 AM on weekends while the rest of the city is still asleep.

Dugout Sports Grill

Dugout Sports Grill

109 W Cochran St, Simi Valley
11 AM to 9 PM daily

A sports grill with numerous large screens per the city's own visitor directory, open 11 AM to 9 PM daily. Good middle option in Simi if The Arena is still closed and you don't want a chain.

Sources conflict on this one. Their own site is live with current hours and Visit Simi Valley lists it as open, but Yelp carries a listing for The Dugout at this same address marked closed. Ring the number before you drive over.

Santa Paula's only one

The Draft Sports Bar at Mupu Grill

930 E Main St, Santa Paula

Santa Paula's sports bar, in historic downtown, with an open floor plan built around the TVs and weekend brunch. It's the only verified option in town, and the fact that it's called The Draft tells you what it's for.

No website of its own, so the hours come from listings rather than the bar. Worth a call.

Ojai & Oak View

2 spots
Lisa's Cantina at Jim & Rob's Fresh Grill
Ojai's only one

Lisa's Cantina at Jim & Rob's Fresh Grill

214 W Ojai Ave, Ojai
Cantina 11:30 AM to 9 PM, restaurant from 9 AM

Ojai's sports bar, full stop. A casual family cantina attached to a fresh Mex and American grill, walls covered in local memorabilia, big screens up, and their own site calls it Ojai's favorite sports bar. The restaurant opens at 9 AM even though the cantina itself starts at 11:30.

Ojai Pizza Company

Ojai Pizza Company

331 E Ojai Ave, Ojai · 820 N Ventura Ave, Oak View
11 AM to 9 PM daily

A family pizza place, nearly thirty years in, that puts the game on. Not a sports bar and not pretending to be one, but with two locations it's the practical answer in Oak View, where nothing else qualifies. The Oak View room is the old JJ's Sports Zone building, which is why stale listings still confuse the two.

And the chains, if you just need a screen

This is a local list, so the chains don't get cards. But they work, and pretending otherwise helps nobody. Buffalo Wild Wings on E Gonzales Rd in Oxnard is a sports bar by construction and opens at 11 AM. Dave & Buster's in Thousand Oaks opens at 10 AM and has 40-foot screens, though it's an arcade with a bar rather than a bar with a game on, so bring the kids or don't come.

Before you go

Game Day, Honestly

Call about the sound. This is the one nobody thinks to ask and the one that ruins the afternoon. Plenty of bars will have your game on a screen with the audio on something else entirely. If hearing it matters, ask.

Noon kickoffs fill up by 11:30. For anything big on a weekend, the tables are gone half an hour before it starts. The 8 AM weekend opens at The Lookout and the Cronies rooms are the county's real answer to an early start.

The good ones will move their hours. Crown & Anchor openly adjusts its hours around live soccer, and Breakers opened at 11:30 AM for a World Cup match that fell outside its normal schedule. If a bar cares about the sport, ask. Posted hours aren't always the answer.

Check the kitchen, not just the bar. The Bench Warmer has no kitchen at all. O'Leary's is bar snacks only. Great rooms, but eat first or bring something.

Search results lie about closures. Barrelhouse 101 and Rookees in Ventura, the Grinder in Moorpark, The Park in Oak Park, and JJ's Sports Zone in Oak View all still surface near the top for sports-bar searches. Every one of them is closed. The Conejo Valley listicle that ranks first for these searches still recommends Magoo's, which has been gone since 2016 under two subsequent names. That's most of why this page exists.

Some towns genuinely have nothing. Moorpark, Oak Park, Port Hueneme, and Fillmore turned up no verifiable spot at all. That isn't me cutting corners. Moorpark and Oak Park both lost their sports bars and nothing replaced them, Port Hueneme's results are all just nearby Oxnard, and Fillmore's one candidate says nothing about sports on its own site and closes Sundays anyway. Nearest real options are Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Oxnard, or Santa Paula.

Good to know

Watching the Game in Ventura County: FAQ

Where can I watch the World Cup final in Ventura County?

The final is Sunday, July 19 at 12:00 PM Pacific on FOX in English and Telemundo in Spanish. Crown & Anchor in Thousand Oaks is the surest bet: it's a British pub that names the World Cup on its own site and has already posted that it won't take reservations Saturday or Sunday, first come first served until full. Breakers in Thousand Oaks ran a World Cup watch party earlier this summer and opened early for it. Happy Place Eatery in Ventura is the Ventura-side option that names World Cup soccer on its own site. Nobody here has been called to confirm the final specifically, so ring ahead.

Which Ventura County bar opens earliest for morning games?

The Lookout at Channel Islands Harbor opens at 8 AM on weekends, and the Cronies locations in Camarillo, Newbury Park, and Simi Valley do the same. Q Club in Oxnard and Azar's in Newbury Park open at 9 AM every day, and Cronies in Ventura opens at 9 AM daily. For a European kickoff, those are your options.

Which bar has the most TVs?

The Arena in Simi Valley, with over 25 screens running 10 separate satellite feeds. Watch its hours though, because outside football season it doesn't open until 4 PM. Breakers in Thousand Oaks has seventeen, Social Tap in Ventura sixteen, and Santa Cruz Sports Bar and The Shores both have nine.

Where can I watch soccer specifically?

Crown & Anchor in Thousand Oaks, without much debate. It's the only venue in the county that names the Premier League, World Cup, Euros, and Champions League on its own site, and it shifts its opening hours around kickoffs. After that: Happy Place Eatery in Ventura names World Cup soccer on its site, The Lookout in Oxnard is a British pub indexed as a soccer venue, and Q Club in Oxnard carries Fox Soccer Plus.

Where can I watch Liga MX or Mexican national team games?

Honestly, I couldn't verify a single venue in the county with documented Liga MX coverage, and I looked in both English and Spanish. Q Club carries Fox Soccer Plus, but that's a European package, not TUDN or Fox Deportes. Amigos Sports Bar in Oxnard is the most likely candidate but has no website to check. This is a real gap in the county's coverage online, and my guess is the Liga MX scene lives in cantinas and taquerias that don't have websites at all. If you know one, tell me and I'll add it.

How did you pick these bars?

Every place on this list has evidence on its own website, Facebook, or listing that it actually shows sports. Where the only source was an aggregator and the bar's own site said nothing, I said so rather than pass the claim along. Several well-known names aren't here because they've closed: Barrelhouse 101 in Ventura closed in April 2026, the Grinder in Moorpark and The Park in Oak Park are both gone, and JJ's Sports Zone in Oak View closed years ago. All of them still rank in search.

Know a spot I missed?

If your bar shows the game and isn't on this list, tell me and I'll check it out. Same goes if something here has changed hands, changed hours, or closed.
