Western Plateau - Transmitter Tower

Meet at the Conejo Canyons trailhead next to the Thousand Oaks Household Hazardous Waste Recycling Center on Conejo Center Drive, near the end of Rancho Conejo. We will walk up the Western Plateau fire road to the transmitter tower. At the transmitter tower, we will take a short snack break and then return the same way back to the parking lot. The hike will be on a fire road so we will not have to worry about ticks, poison oak and can easily avoid snakes.😜

The total distance of this out and back hike is about 5 miles with approximately 1200' gain.

On this hike, you'll see the Conejo Airfield (honest!), Mt. Rex's backside, at least two wrecked cars, lots of fennel, and maybe a rattlesnake and a tarantula or two. Plus, impressive views of the Santa Susannah Mountains (if it's clear), two or three rocky canyons, and the new biotech developments nearby.
