Kayaking Channel Islands Harbor

Let’s go explore Channel Islands harbor in kayaks. Cute sea animals and pirate treasure awaits us. We’ll plan to kayak for 2 hours. For those who have time after and have not been lost at sea, we’ll grab a bite to eat in the area.

If you haven’t tried kayaking before, I promise it’s not scary. We’ll give everyone a few minutes to orient themselves to paddling before we start exploring and we’ll take our time.

Single kayak $12.50/hr
Double kayak $20/hr (we can help you buddy up if you prefer to share a kayak)

Bring:
•hat
•Sunscreen
•layers in case it gets windy
•ID (for rental)
•water
•A change of clothes if you want to change after kayaking, before eating. Your butt will get wet.
•If you prefer not to wear shoes which may get wet, you can leave them on the dock before getting into the kayak.
•If you have a water proof bag to store things like phones then feel free to bring it. It is really hard to tip a kayak over (unless you’re my friend Lisa) so most items will stay dry in a plastic bag or a bag worn higher than your butt. The bottom of the kayak will be wet.

There is huge parking lot available with plenty of free spaces. There is a bathroom available around the corner from the rental center. Please arrive early so you have enough time to find the place, use the bathroom, apply sunscreen, and ask any questions. This is a fairly small collection of restaurants and businesses, but it sometimes takes people a few minutes to find the correct place as many of the businesses have a boat related theme. We will meet outside Channel Islands Kayak Center. If you are facing the shopping center from the parking lot and see the sea fresh sign, take the path to the right of that. It will be on the left side and will have kayaks outside. It is next door to island packers. If you are having trouble finding the place, send me a message and I will help you find us. Most importantly, arrive a little early. See the photo section of this meetup for a few pics of the place and shopping center. We will gather first, make sure everyone has arrived, and then get in line to check in. Do not check in and get your rental early as the rental is priced by the hour, which starts at check in. If you are late, you are welcome to try to catch up with us on the water, but I will not be checking the meetup app once we leave the dock.
