It's been awhile since we did this hike, but it was a popular hike. This is a pleasant walk through a changing landscape as we climb. There are flat and uphill options. I plan on the flat option, with an out and back hike of four miles.
The footing is quite good throughout. Heat is a possibility and you should plan accordingly. And, as in all the foothills and even some beach areas, there may be rattlesnakes. I only see one a year, on average. Unfortunately, I haven't seen my one yet this year. But the trail is wide and clear, so you'll see any snake a figurative mile away.
Bring the essentials--good shoes [hiking boots would be optional], hat, sun screen, etc., and especially water. I recommend cool water plus a container of ice. The ice will melt, and as you drink the ice water, you can refill with liquid water. Eliminate dehydration and directly lower your core temperature at the same time.
After we're done hiking, we'll stop at the picnic table shown above for a picnic lunch [bring your own]. I can't tell from the satellite view if that table is still there. If it isn't, we can go to the nearby Santa Rosa Valley Park, which does seem to still be there.

This is a dog friendly area, so bring Fido if you want. But as always, Fido should be friendly to people and to other dogs [in our own pack, at least]. And you must keep the dog leashed.
For those of you with the technology, we'll meet here:
