Patagonia's original store opened here in 1972 in a beautifully remodeled 1920s building—the birthplace of Great Pacific Iron Works, founder Yvon Chouinard's first retail venture. Located steps from excellent surf breaks and near Chouinard's historic Tin Shed blacksmith shop, the Ventura store carries a full range of outdoor clothing and gear for the whole family. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and the shop hosts regular community events. Patagonia supports local nonprofits through grants, product donations, and partnerships with environmental groups.
